The Forum of Israeli Judaism in the Negev

The Forum of Israeli Judaism in the Negev is a coalition of organizations that promote Jewish life in the Negev with over a dozen organizations and communities that promote a pluralistic and tolerance Jewish culture to all. Our fundamental objective is to provide a space for greater cooperation, collaboration, and cohesion across all sectors of Jewish pluralistic civil society, working to ensure the Negev as a place for all its Jewish inhabitants. Thanks to our fellow coalitions in Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and Haifa we positively impact on a national level through YACHDA – the network of Israeli-Jewish forums – to ensure the state of Israel truly fulfils the vision of unity in diversity.

Thanks to our collaboration with the Be’er Sheva Municipality, The Forum of Israeli Judaism in the Negev enables member organizations and the community at large to benefit from municipal resources and to become active participants in the revitalization of Be’er Sheva.

As part of the organizations of the Forum of Israeli Judaism in the Negev, the residents of Beer Sheva and the Negev benefit from a variety of activities and services:

A variety of prayers every Shabbat for all denominations of Judaism.

Houses of Study that appeal to specific populations such as young people, mothers on maternity leave, the elderly and more.

Bar and Bat Mitzvah programs

Conversion plans

Special events in holidays and more

The Forum of Israeli Judaism in the Negev operates in the city of Be’er Sheva and throughout the Negev, in many collaborations, leading and participating in many initiatives that promote a pluralistic Jewish culture in the public sphere and create unity amidst diversity in practice.

 Candle lighting events during Hannukah

During Hanukkah we held 8 candle lighting events and activities for families throughout the city of Beer Sheva, in shopping complexes, community centers, public gardens, pubs and more.

 Candle lighting events during Hannukah

We held seven Tu B’shvat events in which about 300 men and women participated in Tu B’shevat seders. These events were sensitive to the times we are in without taking away from the celebration of the holiday and its spirit.

There were 3 events for a target audience of young people and 4 events for families- 3 events in community gardens and 4 in various public spaces.

Tu B’shvat Seder in Yerucham

Local musicians took to the stage and led a festive, joyful evening! In the audience were wives of reserve duty soldiers, students and teachers of the Yeruham Preparatory School, families evacuated from Sderot staying in Yeruham and residents of the city.

Everyone enjoyed the familiar songs and the exciting atmosphere, with the microphone passing between young and old, women and men. Many stood up, sang and danced with all their heart. Between the songs were short speeches read by participants about Tu B’shvat and the values of the holiday and about the foundation of Yeruham.

'Rejuvinate the Spirit' events to support and honor the employees of Soroka Hospital

These evenings sought to strengthen those who have been carrying the burden and working incessantly for months to care for those wounded during the Iron Swords War. The evenings were dedicated to a different department each time to keep the event in an intimate atmosphere and precisely tailored to the needs of the participants.

Every evening, the participants enjoyed a delicious meal, spiritual workshops engaging with the concept of 'hope' through sources from the Jewish tradition and through various artistic expressions (workshops of movement, art, writing, music). Events concluded with a musical performance with the participation of the audience performed by local musicians.
